The Copa del Rey encounter between bitter rivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid was quite heated despite it being a cold night in the city.

Alvaro Morata, a former Real Madrid player, performed the honours, and it was clear from his celebration that he had pleasure in it.

The other Brazilian starlet Rodrygo levelled the score with an incredible solo run, which served as the first danger flag.

Madrid was clearly in the lead at that point, but Atletico added to their difficulties by having them sent out.

Karim Benzema, the winner of the Balon d'Or, scored with the most composed of finishes, so it wasn't surprising at all.

They were never able to fully dominate their opponents, and Madrid once more proved that it is never a smart idea to write them off.
