Analyses: You People

A contemporary stab at "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" by the "Black-ish" creator and co-writer Jonah Hill

The spectacular failure "You People" from Netflix is a collection of talent looking for a real movie.

Even though it's one of those podcasts where people "talk about life/issues," Barris and Hill's script rings false from the first.

Hill portrays Ezra Cohen, who co-hosts a podcast exploring racial disparities with his Black friend Mo (Sam Jay).

Ezra meets Amira Mohammed (Lauren London) when he unintentionally gets into the incorrect car, believing it's his Uber, and the two begin dating.

Murphy portrays everything as if he were in a drama about racial prejudices, which is ridiculously straight.
